Copernicium is an extremely radioactive and short-lived metal located in the seventh period and twelfth group on the periodic table. It has a half-life of 29 seconds (Copernicium 285). It was named after the influential astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus. It was fist synthesized by the GSI in 1996.
Copernicium doesn't have any uses outside of experimental purposes because of its rarity and radioactivity.
