Oxygen is located in the second period and the sixteenth group in the periodic table of elements. It is a colorless, reactive gas with a boiling point of -183 degrees Celsius. Oxygen can normally form up to 2 bonds with another atom. Oxygen was first identified in 1774 by Joseph Priestley. It has another allotrope called Ozone. This form of Oxygen is a bit more reactive than regular Oxygen. When liquidified, it is pale blue and is ferromagnetic. It forms oxides with many metals such as Iron , Aluminum , Sodium , and other similar metals.Â
Oxygen is an important part of respiration. Without it, we wouldn't live. Oxygen is one of the elements essential for all life on Earth. Oxygen is also used in various chemical reactions, and as an oxidizer for rocket fuel. Without it, nothing will burn.
