Boron is a member of the metalloids . It can form up to 3 bonds. Boron was identified in 1732 by Claude Geoffroy. In 1808 Joseph Gay-Lussac, Louis-Jacques Thenard, and Humphry Davy all independently isolated impure boron.
Boron is most commonly used as Sodium tetraborate, or borax. Borax was used as a detergent, cosmetic, fire retardant, insecticide, a flux, and many more.Â
