Chlorine is located in the third period and seventeenth group on the periodic table of elements. It is a greenish gas that has a boiling point of -34 degrees Celsius. It is a very reactive element. It was discovered in 1774 by Carl Scheele.
Chlorine is used in polyvinyl chloride, or PVC. It was also used as a chemical weapon in WWI. Chlorine is also commonly used as a disinfectant.Â
