Einsteinium is the eleventh member of the actinides located on the second row below the periodic table. It is a silvery, soft, radioactive metal with a melting point of 860 degrees Celsius. It was discovered 1952 as fallout from the first ever thermonuclear bomb that was detonated over Bikini atoll. It is a reactive metal with properties similar to Holmium. Einsteinium 252 has a half-life of 471.7 days.
Due to its short half life Einsteinium isn't commonly used. However, it was used to synthesize the first 17 atoms of the element Mendelevium.
