This is a hotly debated group of elements which share properties with both the metals and nonmetals. This has led to some unique properties such as semiconductors. They have also had an extremely wide range of other uses such as poison, semiconductor, cosmetics, neutron source, and many others. They are also generally not common with the exception of Silicon which makes up a large portion of earth's crust.Â
