Praseodymium is the third member of the Lanthanide series, being located in the first row below the periodic table of elements. It is a silvery-white metal with a melting point of 935 degrees Celsius. It was identified in 1885 by Carl Auer von Welsbach.
It is used in alloys in some aircraft parts for the alloys high strength. It is also used in welders goggles to filter out infrared radiation. Its alloys are of high strength and high temperature resistance.
