Sulfur is located in the third period and sixteenth group in the periodic table of elements. It is a stinky, yellow solid with a melting point of 115 degrees Celsius. It can form up to six bonds. It readily forms around volcanoes, and many compounds can form from it. It is also partly responsible for rainwater being ever-so-slightly acidic. This is because it reacts with Oxygen to form Sulfur dioxide and trioxide gas which reacts with water to become sulfurous and sulfuric acids respectively.
Sulfur has some roles in the vulcanization of rubber. It is also a pert of various proteins in our body. Historically, it was used to bleach cloth, and preserve wine.
