Fermium is the twelfth member of the actinides located on the second row below the periodic table. It is a silvery, soft, radioactive metal with a melting point of 1500 degrees Celsius. It was discovered 1952 as fallout from the first ever thermonuclear bomb that was detonated over Bikini atoll. It is a reactive metal with properties similar to Holmium. Fermium 257 has a half-life of 100.5 days.
Fermium doesn't have many applications because of its radioactivity and toxicity.
