Argon is located on the third period and eighteenth group in the periodic table of elements. It is a colorless gas which glows violet when exited. It has a boiling point of -186 degrees Celsius. Its name comes from the word Argos which is the Greek word for lazy. It was discovered in 1894 by William Ramsey and John William Strutt.Â
Argon is used in Argon-ion lasers. It is also commonly used in chemical reactions and industrial processes which require an inert atmosphere.
